Dhool 2008!
Have you been watching the latest dance performances in DHOOL , the nationwide Indian dance competition on Vasantham Central? We are indeed proud that the standard of dance competitions and participants' creativity on National Television has made an outstanding impression on our society. Singaporean Indians do possess an inherent talent in dance and by giving our youths this opportunity to display it, we are definitely encouraging talents to grow.

From a different perspective, we can safely say that dance and culture keeps our youths out of trouble. Parents we interviewed lament that their teens are spending too much time, practicing their moves. But it is definitely a better place to channel their
energies rather than sitting around under the blocks or coffeeshops engaging in unproductive chatting and perhaps drinking.

Group dance teaches teamwork, tolerance and discipline. And it truly hones their creativity. Look at the way these youths remix old with new songs, different genres of music and even western with classical moves. I'm truly impressed with their innovative minds!

Interestingly, Dhool is one competition that not only brings out our teens' passion for dance but it has also sparked sporting participation from non-Indian dancers, especially Apsara Asia. Who could forget this ensemble that has made such a great impression in their fans' hearts as well as in the judges'? Being one of the groups with non-Indian dancers, they still proved to be one of the best in the competition with their vibrant colours
and consistent performances. Although they seemed to have lost out in the sms -voting, their efforts should still be commended.

Sitting on the judging panel week after week are our familiar faces Sri Devi ( previously from Omkar Dancers), Singer Vijayandran (well known for his Rajini style singing in the 80's) and Lavanya . These trio have been dishing out their forthcoming opinions and constructive feedback to guide the teams to victory.

But still, the show is never complete without the desserts scooped-up by Vadi. His butt-kicking raps about reality is definitely a charm. Vadi as always uplifts the mood with his multi-faceted personality, together with bubbly Udaya (contestant from Vasantham Star' 2007).

The competition has come so far, and only 7 groups are left to battle it out on the dance floor. So who is going to win the title? 100% hip-hop, Tridiac ? The all girls group, Ryyan Spencer Revolution? The Killabees ? Agni Reloaded? The Chakarz Dancers? Aerocratz ? Or is it Version 2.8? You decide! And remember to keep voting for the group you think who deserves to win.

Send your SMS votes to 73388, each SMS vote costs 60 cents. Voting line will close at 8pm on Sunday 28 September.
