The Force- Returns!
This year, the month of May promises to be a very exciting and eventful month, especially since the final installation of the Star Wars Saga will be released on 19 May.. While many can’t be bothered about it, there are also many more die-hard fans out there, who have been anxiously waiting for the movie’s release date and advanced tickets…
Unless you are a die-hard fan yourself or are related to a couple of star wars-fanatics, hmmm then it might be a little difficult to imagine that such a simple thing such as a movie release can cause such a huge stir and excitement.
Many waited anxiously for the advanced tickets to start selling. Golden Village has started releasing the tix as of 1st May midnite and they are selling quite steadily. This year, GV is starting its screening as early as 18 May with its 4pm shows. As many as 14 shows are due to be cast on GV Plaza alone. So chances are, fans might still be able to catch the show within the 1st two days in some cinema on the island after all, even if they book their tix a little later.
Heard some rumours that Star Wars fanatics even have some choices of cinemas they would rather go to, to watch the show. When I asked my friend, what those choices were, he stared at me like I had just asked him to let me in, on his darkest long-kept secrets. He was not prepared to provide these tip-offs as he wants to get to watch the movie in peace without non-fanatics spoiling the experience. Jeez, sorry folks.
In fact, I was told by my cousin in law (1 of the star wars fanatics in my life), that there are even some etiquettes that must be followed, when watching this movie in order of sequence:
1. Come early to soak in the atmosphere.
2. Come dressed in any star wars character attire if you can.
3. Switch off your mobile phones
4. Talk all you want to your friends 'before' the movie starts.
5. When the 20th Century Fox music starts playing, you should stop yakking already.
6. Every star wars episode starts with a scrolling text of introduction. When this comes on, fans will remind everyone to keep quiet by saying. “Shhh”…
7. You are allowed to cheer for certain scenes not jeer …For example in Episode 2, when the Yoda fight scene came on, fans cheered in exhilaration.
SI crew figured that there are 4 types of Star Wars audience out there:
1. Die-hard fans- the ones who have been devoted to it since the very 1st star wars episode was released (since episode 4,5,6).
2. New converts-started from Episode 1
3. Star Wars Wanabes – mostly those crazy over Hayden Christensen
4. Blur-Taggers - those who have absolutely little knowledge of what’s going on but just follow the crowd to see what the fuss is all about.
Believe it or not, Star Wars is the 1st of its kind featuring a very futuristic inter-galactic experience. It has managed to captivate audiences for the past 18 years (since the 1st of the saga came out- The New Hope).
Episode 3 will prove to be the most emotional experience for fans as it is believed to be the last release. George Lucas- the creator of Star Wars released episodes 4,5 & 6 first and moved on to weave in the prequels of episodes 1, 2 & 3. However, it is still not known if the 3rd triology of 7, 8 & 9 will be in the making at all…That adds on to all this mystery of the whole saga.
Episode 3 is where Anakin Skywalker eventually succumbs to the lures of the dark side. At the peak of this transformation, Chancellor Palpatine takes Anakin Skywalker to be his Sith disciple, and transforms the war-weary Republic into the mighty Galactic Empire.
Unless u have watched the next 3 episodes (4,5,6), u may never realize the significance of the details that are revealed in the 1st 3 episodes and likewise, with the 1st 3 episodes in place, episodes 4,5 and 6 gain more depth and a whole new realm to the past that obi-wan Kenobi was describing.
Waiting for the Stars Wars am I. Till then... may the force be with you. :o)
